Marguerite Davis February 26, 1940 - September 24, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— Marguerite Davis, 70, 3709 Regal Drive, Columbus, GA, passed on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, October 1, 2010 at Rose Hill Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Alonza Witaker, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-7:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the funeral home according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Davis was born February 26, 1940 in Columbus, GA to the late Nellie Mae Dewberry Carter and the late John Carter. Mrs. Davis was educated in the Muscogee County School System, graduating from Wm H. Spencer High School Class of 1958 and from the Medical School of Nursing. Marguerite was a faithful and dedicated member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church for 57 years. She served as Secretary of the Usher Board Ministry for more than 25 years and also a Vice President of the Missionary Ministry. In addition, she was a dedicated member of the Women's Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Davis, Jr., and sister, Lurline Moore. Mr. Davis is survived by her sons, William McGinty, Jr., Columbus, GA, and Leonard (Pranati) Davis, III; daughter, Dallas Georgia; step-daughters, Cherise Taylor, Birmingham, AL and Amelia (Ollie) Hall of Columbus, GA; three brothers, John (Janice) Carter, Jr., Columbia, SC, Roy B. (Kizzie) Carter, Spanaway. WA, and Robert J. Carter, Columbus, GA; four sisters, Lucille Braggs of Seaside, CA, Mary A. (David) Furr, Houston, TX, Alice M. Davis and Geraldine Foster of Columbus, GA; two special nieces, Latrina Burrowes and Edythe Caniero of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several other relatives and friends.
