Margery-Lucille Thompson, née en 1902, conjointe de Gerry Thompson, fille de Herb et Nancy, est décédée le 18 janvier 1921 à l'âge de 19 ans. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
THOMPSON, Margery Lucille January 18, 1921 to June 7, 2010 Marge passed away at South Granville Park Lodge after a rich and full life. Predeceased by her parents Herb and Nancy Wilson and by her husband, Gerry. Lovingly remembered son Gerry and partner Jim, daughter Merrilee and husband Doug, and grandson Andrew. Marge was born in Glidden and grew up in Wartime, Saskatchewan. She achieved a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Saskatchewan at the age of 19 and taught music in Wartime, Rosetown and Greenan. After 60 years, she could still recall all of her pupils and their recitals. In 1943 she married Gerald Norman Thompson and in 1946, they moved to Vancouver. Every summer until 1954 they returned to Saskatchewan to co-manage the resort at Clearwater Lake. In Vancouver, she cared for her young cousin, Jimmy, and raised her own children. Marge became a preschool teacher at Canadian Memorial United Church and then was invited to teach at the UBC Child Study Centre demonstration pre-school. During her years there, she completed a Master of Education degree. In 1966 she was asked to develop and lead a program for preschool teachers and day-care providers at Vancouver City College (now Langara College). She taught at Langara until her retirement in 1986, also undertaking a doctoral program at UBC. An enthusiastic traveler, Marge journeyed to China, to the Amazon and drove across Canada with 3 women friends. Throughout her life, playing the piano was a source of joy, as were all her beloved dogs. In retirement, she took up painting, singing in a choir, volunteering with children and playing 6 hands on the piano. Marge was a loving mother, a talented musician, and a gifted educator. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the Early Childhood community. No service by request. Charitable donations to her favourite charities, Canuck Place Children's Hospice www.canuckplace.org or the BCSPCA www.spca.bc.ca .
