Margaret "Peggy" Whelan, 56, died Nov. 10, 2009, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce. She was born in Oceanside, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach, coming from Fort Pierce. She attended St. Clare School and Lavelle School for the Blind. She was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, the National Federation for the Blind and Sight Seekers of Fort Pierce. Survivors include her mother, Dorothea Whelan; brother, Robert Whelan; and sisters, Maureen Kieninger and Diane Sordoni. She was preceded in death by her father, Warren Whelan; brother, Francis; and sister, Barbara.
