TOMPKINS _ Margaret Merrill (nee Meurant) July 22, 1927 - November 17, 2008 Merrill Tompkins passed away suddenly on Monday, November 17, 2008 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 81 years. Merrill will be lovingly remembered as an extraordinary mother who deeply loved her grandchildren and adored the time she spent with them. She graduated from the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing, moved to Lethbridge to work at St. Michael's Hospital, then married and moved to Calgary to work in the operating room at the Holy Cross Hospital, later volunteering with the Victorian Order of Nurses. Merrill treasured the many longtime friendships she made over the years and especially enjoyed playing bridge with the neighborhood ladies. Merrill was born in Souris, PEI, on July 22, 1927 and is survived by her children, Beverly, Gail Pankhurst and her husband Robert, Scott and his wife Strathie, Bruce, and Blair; by her children's father Glenn; by her grandchildren, Hannah, Nicola, Krista, Rhyam, Connor, Delaney, Kiel, Eryn; by her sisters Edith (Lorne Dixon) of Edmonton, Mayme Burley of Souris. Predeceased by her youngest daughter Valerie Frehlich; by her brothers Andy, Richard; by her sister Helen. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 - 34 Street S.W.) on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 - 34 Street S.W.) on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev.
