MANCHESTER -- Margaret "Peggy" V. Sylvester, 82, died April 10, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness. She was born in Manchester May 10, 1928, to Martin and Margaret (Lally) Glennon. She was a lifelong resident of the city. She graduated from Manchester High School Central, class of 1946. She spent her life as a homemaker. She was a member of the Manchester South Little League Ladies Auxiliary, the Daughters of Isabella, and participated in the "Knights to Remember" variety show. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where she served with the ladies guild, the church choir, and was a hymn leader. In addition, she sang with the Diocesan Choir. Most recently, she was a member of Saint Anthony Church. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed the pleasures of family life. She was married 58 years to Henry W. Sylvester Sr., who died April 5, 2007. IN HER LIFE: Family members include four daughters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Bemis of North Berwick, Maine, Mrs. William (Mary) Curtis of Hooksett, Mrs. Larry (Virginia) Guillemette of East Greenwich, R.I., and Mrs. James (Robin) Harris of Manchester; four sons, Henry W. Sylvester Jr. of Auburn, Michael Sylvester and his wife, Connie, of Manchester, Glenn Sylvester Jr. and his wife, Sheila, of Manchester, John Sylvester and his wife, Elaine, of Manchester; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Glennon of Manchester and Robert Glennon of Virginia; her sister, Mrs. Walter (Madelyn) Swist of Manchester; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Glennon, and two sisters, Muriel Virgin and Marion Thompson. SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord Street, Manchester. The funeral is Tuesday with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony Church, Belmont Street, Manchester. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of N.H., 33 S. Commercial St., Suite 401, Manchester 03010. Courtesy local transportation for the afternoon calling hours will be provided on request by contacting Daniel J. Healy at 622-8223.
