SCITUATE Mrs. Margaret Mary (Griffin) Noonan, of Scituate, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at her home. She was 90. Margaret was born in Kansas City, Kansas on December 18, 1918, and was a daughter of the late James and Marie (Kenney) Griffin. She had been a Scituate resident for the past 62 years. She was an accomplished sportswoman and avid Boston Red Sox fan. After her marriage, Margaret served as chairperson of numerous benefits and galas on behalf of The Boston Conservatory of Music, The Art Institute of Boston, The Boston Ballet, The Faneuil Hall Restoration & Preservation Trust, The Atlantic Rim Institute, and the American Friends of Blerancourt; Chateau de Blerancourt, France. She was a founder and benefactor of State Visit and the Meeting House Hill Foundation. A former board member of Notre Dame Academy in Hingham and parishioner of St. Mary of the Nativity Church in Scituate, Margaret served for many years as a girl scout leader, was a long-time member of the Satuit Coffee & Donuts bowling league, regularly attended Tuesday night bingo at the Scituate Knights of Columbus and was a member of numerous other Boston and Scituate civic organizations. She had also assisted her late husband in his law practice during their 34 year marriage until his death in 1979. The wife of the late Boston attorney David W. Noonan, she leaves her children, David William Noonan, Jr. of Scituate, Margaret Carroll and her husband, Jim, of Bluffton, South Carolina, Mary Rose Delaney and her husband Michael, of Waltham, and Thomas Joseph Noonan and his wife, Gail, of Plymouth; her grandchildren, Brian Delaney and his wife, Kristin, Erin OConnell and her husband, Luke, Kevin Delaney and his fianc, Jaclyn Doucette, Ryan Noonan and Kayley Noonan; her great-grandchildren, Kevin OConnell, Jack Delaney, and Alexa Rose OConnell; her sister, Joan Glavin and her sister-in-law, Rose Griffin both of Kansas City, Kansas. She was also the mother of the late Michael Noonan and sister of the late James Griffin. Family and friends will honor and remember Margarets life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Friday morning at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will take place Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Saint Johns Cemetery, Lancaster. Memorial donations may be made to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
