WILSONMargaret Mary Ballingham Wilson, age 87, of Fairfield, passed away May 5, 2008 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Youngs-town, Ohio, on May 23, 1920, Margaret Wilson was the oldest of FOUR children of the late David and Bridget Ballingham. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Bridgeport. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, she was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant in the Navy Nurse Corps. Mrs. Wilson was a parishioner at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Fairfield, a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Bridgeport, a member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Fairfield Senior Center. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, including the annual 4th of July party at the family home where all would gather to celebrate and watch the parade move down Park Avenue. In recent years she especially enjoyed her role as the matriarch of the family, providing love, guidance, and good humor to all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also spent many years as a foster mother, caring for infants with birth anomalies until adopted. Margaret maintained her astounding memory throughout her long years, recalling names and places from long ago and far away. Survivors include her four devoted children, Margaret Mary Wilson of Fairfield, Lynn Ellen Krause and her husband, John of Stratford, Stanley Joseph Wilson Jr. of Fairfield, and David Wilson and his wife, Lisa Hirsch of Wayland, Mass.; four loving grandchildren, Mary Kathleen Krause Rivera, John Krause III, Colin Wilson and Grace Wilson; two cherished great-grandchildren, Tiana Krause and Derrick Rivera; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Miller of Rockville, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Stanley Wilson Sr., sister to the late David Ballingham, James Ballingham, and Sally Ballingham Miller. Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral services on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd. and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church 545 Stratfield Rd. Fairfield. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stratfield Firefighter (Station 3 House Fund), 400 Jackman Avenue, Stratfield, CT.
