Margaret Doris (Kelley) Martin, 86, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013, in Penn Valley, CA with her son, Glenn, and his family who cared for her the last two months after she became ill following surgery. Doris was born in Dudley, MA, one of six children of John Joseph Kelley, Jr. and Mary Eldora (Terroy) Kelley. She graduated from Bartlett High School, Webster, MA in 1945. She married James F. Martin, Sr. in 1951 and they settled in Northborough where they raised their four children before Jim passed away in 1990. She is survived by the family she loved so much: her children, James F. Martin, Jr. and his wife, Charlene, of Shrewsbury; Glenn J. Martin, his wife, Christann, and their children, Patrick, Eric, James, and Maria of Penn Valley, CA; Brian R. Martin, his wife, Jane, and their children, Breanna and Micayla Goodrow, of Holden, MA; and Robin Mason, her husband, William, and their children, Mallory, her fianc, Tyler Sakats of Northborough and Billy of Lewiston, ME. She also leaves her brother Roland Kelley, sisters-in-law, Barbara Kelley and Gloria Martin, family friend, John Longhi, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by siblings, Anne, Paul, John, and Norma. Doris was a talented seamstress and for many years created custom draperies. She cross stitched beautiful heirloom Christmas stockings for each member of her family. She was a member of the Northborough Womens Club and the St. Rose of Lima Womens Club. Hundreds of babies baptized at St. Rose received a baptismal bib hand sewn by Doris. She enjoyed travelling to foreign countries with her brother, Roland, and locally with groups from the Northborough Senior Center; baking with her grandchildren; taking care of her yard, and watching movies. But nothing made her happier than her family and friends and she loved getting everyone together for holidays and summer cookouts. She would often say that she thanked God for the many blessings in her life, but it was her family that was blessed to have her as a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister. Calling hours will be held at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough on Sunday, January 5, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 6th at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 W. Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helping Hands Fund, Northborough Helping Hands Association, Inc., P.O.
