NEWPORT -- Margaret M. Norris, 78, of Sand Hill Road, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, surrounded by loved ones.She was born in Newport on March 4, 1932, the daughter of Miland and Beatrice (Barrett) Bannister. She was raised and educated in Sunapee and remained in Sullivan County for the remainder of her life. She was an active member of Sunshine Baptist Church in Newport and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.She was blessed with many gifts, which she lovingly shared with her friends and family. She could often be found in her kitchen preparing homemade treats and savory dishes for anyone who walked through her door. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing the piano and accordion, traveling the world and spending quality time with the people she loved.Survivors include her beloved husband of 27 years, Harley Norris of Newport; a sister; four daughters; three sons-in-law; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson; cousins, nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Bannister of Hancock, Vt., and a sister, Dorothy Merrill of Tamworth.IN HER LIFE: She is survived by other relations: Christine Bodwell of Union Grove, Wis., Janet and David Recktenwald of White Lake, Mich., Robin and Ted Forsi of Soldotna, Alaska, and Kathryn and John Gioldassis of Sunapee. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Jones of Ossipee, and her husband, Ken. On her husband's side, she is survived by her two brothers in-law, Bill and his wife and Bernice Norris of Spruce Pine, N.C., Mike and his wife Mary Norris of Unity, and Linda Haley of Newport.SERVICES: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sunshine Baptist Church on 314 Sunapee St., Newport.A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m., at the Sunshine Baptist Church.
