MARGARET L. SMITH HAMMOND, IN Margaret Louise Smith, age 89, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2014. She was born in St. Louis, MO on November 12, 1924. Louise is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, William H. Smith, Jr.; seven children: Sandra (Ernest Sr.) Reese of Gary, Curtis (Marie) Smith of Chicago, Phyllis Smith of Hammond, Darrell (Tracey Cousins) of Miller, Johnny Smith of Hammond, Anita (Derrick) Taylor of Madison, WI, and Rhonda (Robert) Leach of Hammond; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Elder Bert (Mary) Hutton; one brother and sister-in-law, Willie (Mildred) Hutton; three grandchildren: Vincent W. Wren, Jr., Kandence M. Hutson, and Erica D. Smith. Louise loved the lord and her family. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial COGIC, 6001 Howard St., Hammond, IN with Dr. Yvonne Frank, Pastor and Elder Patrick Williams officiating. Interment at Fern Oaks Cemetery, Griffith, IN. Visitation will be Monday, May 5, 2014 at Memorial COGIC from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
