Avis de décès de Margaret-Josephine Kelleher

KELLEHER Margaret Josephine (ONConnell) Kelleher, a lifelong resident of the city of Ansonia, joined the angels and saints she prayed to each day on Monday, January 23, 2006, in Nashua, N.H. after battling Alzheimers for the last five years. Born in Ansonia on December 12, 1918, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Mary Lynch ONConnell. PegNs entire life was dedicated to giving of herself and helping others. For all blessed to have known her, she was a loving, caring, spirited and tireless daughter, sister, wife, mother grandmother and friend. Peg worked at KingNs Department Store for many years, but her true career was that of a role model, inspirational leader, cheerleader, caregiver, chef and household CEO. She was endowed with the qualities of her mother,"an energy and charisma that allowed her to make and hold friends." Peg loved to laugh and sing Irish songs as well as dance an occasional jig. She was a devout Catholic and proudly called the Church of the Assumption her home. She looked forward each day to her ritual of attending early mass, then proceeding to Nolan Field to exercise on the track with one of her many networks of friends, followed by visiting nursing homes. Peg loved sports and was proud of her Ansonia Chargers, Fairfield Stags, UConn Huskies, Boston Red Sox and the Celtics. She was also a proud, registered Democrat, who could always be counted on by local and national candidates to display yard signs in front of her home, always taking them in at night to avoid vandalism and to clean them for the early morning viewing. The jewels of her life were her eight children, Katie and her husband, Matt, Patrick, James, Sean, Christopher, Erin, Emily and Jimmy, who she so loved to care for and be a special part of their life. The impressions she made are the foundations of their future. Peg was preceded in death by her husband, James; by her brothers, James and John; and sisters, Mary, Birdie, Kathryn and Ann. She is survived and will always be remembered by her children and their spouses, Kevin and Mary Pat of Brookfield, Timothy and Gail of Waterbury, Mary Ann and her husband, Laurence "Tim" Kiely, of Bedford, Mass. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who over the years have been so important to her in times of happiness, health and need...and of course her many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2006 in the Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff Street, Ansonia. Interment will immediately follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Church Street, Ansonia. The family will receive friends at Jenkins King Funeral Home, on Thursday, January 26, 2006 from 4 to 8 p.m., 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in PegNs memory may be made to Greenbriar Terrace Health Care, Reflections AlzheimerNs Unit, 55 Harris Road, Nashua, NH 03062.
