She was 84 and a devoted mother, wife and Sunday school teacher. She is survived by her three children, Scott Johnson, Wendy Boyle and Laura Goodfellow; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and hundreds of friends and admirers. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, her mother and father, Laura Lewis (Lawhorn) and Waller Anderson of Knoxville, Tenn., where she was born April 19, 1927. The eldest of three, she is also survived by her brother, Samuel Waller Anderson of Knoxville; and sister, Donna Banta. Margaret's life was fashioned by a deep and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. After marrying Thomas C. Johnson, a prominent Tallahassee insurance executive and lobbyist, her life was devoted to her family and to God, leading others to salvation as a Sunday school teacher for over 62 years. A talented artist and author, Margaret wrote and illustrated articles, papers, Bible lessons and two books. She did local and regional signings at book stores for Berber A Lamb's Tale and had just completed a colorful illustrated text for Bible teachers and students called Revelation is NOT a Mystery. During her life, Margaret owned her own publishing company and Tallahassee's historical WaterOak Plantation. She attended both the University of Tennessee and the University of Florida, where she was recruited to begin a chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. She is a past president of WEDU educational television in Tampa, former president of the Tampa Jr. Woman's Club, the Tampa Junior League, parent-teacher association, past editor of the Sandspur Magazine and past president of the Christian Woman's Club. She taught thousands of adults, teens and children in hundreds of Sunday school classes. She was named most outstanding sustainer by the Tallahassee Jr. League in 1989 and today is listed in Who's Who in America. Margaret Johnson died as she lived, with children and family by her side, in her heart and the Lord Jesus Christ in her soul. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 13,2011, Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Chapel, 700 Timberlane Road, with burial following at MeadowWood Memorial Park, (850) 893-4177.
