Margaret Hayes, of Thorpe Village in Sparkill, passed away on August 11, 2006 at the age of 91. Prior to Sparkill, she lived in Blauvelt since in 1952. Mrs. Hayes was born in New York City to Joseph and Nellie Donovan McVinew on October 18, 1914. On September 14, 1940, she married James J. Hayes at St. Teresa's Church in N. Tarrytown, NY. She worked as an accounting clerk for General Motors in N. Tarrytown, NY. Mrs. Hayes was predeceased by her husband, James J. Sr.; her sons, Lawrence and James J. Hayes Jr.; her sisters, Kathleen Lauer and Helena Kelly; her brother, Joseph McVinew Jr.; and her parents Jospeh and Nellie McVinew. She is survived by her sons, William and his wife Susan, Robert and his wife Valerie; her sister, Mary Markantes; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, 10:15 am, at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt with burial to follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow (N. Tarrytown), NY.
