JOHNSON, Margaret Hayes (Peggy)Of Nashville, passed away October 17th, 2010 at home with her family by her side. Peggy was born in Nashville, TN on April 25, 1924. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert W. Johnson; her mother, Margaret Creighton Hayes; her father, Martin A. Hayes and her sister, Helen Hayes Perry. She is survived by her three sons, Albert W. Johnson II (Catherine), Brian A. Johnson and Douglass S. Johnson (Ella) of Nashville and by her 8 grandchildren, Albert W. Johnson III, Martin Johnson, Briana Johnson, Victoria Johnson, Isabelle Johnson, Douglass Johnson, Jr., Christopher Johnson and McGavock Johnson. Mrs. Johnson graduated from Ward Belmont and the Georgetown Visitation School in Washington. During World War II, she served as a nurses aid at St. Thomas Hospital and her fondest memories were the cherished years she lived in Barbizon, France with Col. Johnson and her three young sons. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and had many life long friends who loved her for her grace and beauty. Peggy was known as a great hostess, who loved to entertain her family and friends in her unique style. She was a member of Belle Meade Country Club and First Presbyterian Church. The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers and Walter Townsend, and in particular, Linda Johnson who always spoke life and the love of Christ in the Johnson's home. A Memorial service will be in Stanford Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 with visitation one hour prior in the Cheek House.
