ObituaryMargaret ("Peggy") Dowd Feeney, 67, of Fort Myers, passed away on July 24, 2009. Peggy was born in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of John and Mary (Kilker) Dowd. Peggy was a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, as well as a recipient of Master's degrees from Trenton State College (Education) and Rutgers University (Library Science).Peggy resided in Baldwin, NY and Warren, NJ while raising her family. She was active in the community, particularly through years of coaching softball for both recreational and school teams. She was also a substitute teacher for a number of school districts in the area.After raising her three children, Peggy returned to her passion, teaching. She taught at St. Joseph's Elementary School in North Plainfield, NJ, and at various levels in the Plainfield, NY school system.Upon retirement, Peggy and her husband, Jim, relocated to the Legends community in Fort Myers where she was able to enjoy her other passion, golf. She found great joy in the Women's Golf League at Legends. Peggy was also honored to be the "Queen Mum" of the Legends Red Hat Society. Peggy continued to work part-time for the Lee County library system.She is survived by her husband, James, of Fort Myers; her two sons Peter, of Minneapolis, MN and Gerard, of South Boston, MA; her daughter, Nancy McGuire, her husband Brian McGuire, and their son Hayden, of Lovettsville, VA; her sister Mary Ann Cappiello, of Pleasantville, NY; her brother, Jack Dowd of Sykesville, MD; and her sister Anne Geoffroy, of Jermyn, PA. She was preceded in death by daughter, Mary.A visitation will be held at Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Dr., Fort Myers from 4-6 PM on Tuesday, July 28. A celebration Mass will be held on July 29 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Pope John XXIII Catholic Church, 13060 Palomino Lane, Fort Myers.
