On Wednesday, July 31, 2002, Peggy Steel, in her 90th year, peacefully at home. Dear wife of the late Percy James (Jim) Steel for over 60 years. Loved mother of Frank (Liz) of Ottawa, Nancy Sunderland of Ottawa, and Pat Winnett (Peter) of Stouffville. Loved grandmother of Michael Steel (Sharon Hodder) of Mississauga, Todd Steel (Mary) of Cornwall, Karen Noseworthy (Andy) of Kanata, Jamie Sunderland (Deidre Wiens) of Ottawa, Michael Sunderland (Fumie Watanabe) of Ottawa, Paul Winnett (Anna) of Windsor, Elaine Winnett (JP Arbic) of Greely, Brian Winnett (Monica) of Waterloo, and Dianne Lewis (Tom) of Uxbridge. Beloved great-grandmother of Alexandra, Nicholas, Rebecca, Emily and Jack of Ottawa, Chantal of Greely, Emma and Lauren of Cornwall, James, John, and Sydney Anne of Windsor. She will be sadly missed by brother Walter Johnson (Margaret) of Waterdown, sisters Bunny Johnson (Stan) of Saskatoon, Jimmie Wren (the late Bern) of Surrey BC, Frances Blair (George) of Guelph, Betty Cherrie (Al) of Hemet CA, and brother Donald Johnson (Mary) of Lynden. Predeceased by sister Florence Elliott (Wilfred) and brothers Pete Johnson (June) of Edmonton and Ted Johnson (Ellen) of Willowdale. Peggy grew up in Toronto and graduated from the Toronto Normal School. She was a homemaker, and loved playing bridge, swimming and socializing with friends. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10, N. of QEW) from 6 - 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday August 2, 2002 at 11 a.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. Donations to the Parkinson Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
