CRAIG, Dr. Margaret (Madge) Theresa September 25, 1939 March 21, 2010 Madge passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice on the first full day of spring of this year. Madge was born and raised in Revelstoke, BC. She graduated from Revelstoke High School in 1957, and went on to post secondary education at several schools, eventually becoming a school teacher in Prince George. Her educational career took her to Vernon, and then to Victoria, where she obtained a doctorate in Education The culmination of her brilliant teaching career was at the University of North Texas, where she taught reading education to future school teachers. It was here that she won the University of North Texas Excellence in Teaching Award, and a scholarship was set up in her name. She returned to Victoria to retire in 2000. Madge was one of seven children born to the late Pat and Freda White. She will forever be remembered by her two children, Shannon and Terry, as well as Terry's wife Laura and their children Haley and Trevor. She will also be remembered by her sisters Mary Woods, Susan Chambers, and Veronica Waring, her brother Daniel, as well as countless other friends and families who were privileged enough to have known Madge. Madge thoroughly enjoyed outdoor pursuits, including hiking, cycling, and working in any garden she could get her hands on. In addition, she shared many great moments with the staff and patients at Mount Saint Mary Hospital, took immense pleasure in participating in Target Theatre productions, and was thrilled to be part of several church groups. Her greatest attribute, which was her appreciation of all the great things life had to give to her, is something that will never be forgotten, and will be a constant source of inspiration to those who follow in her footsteps. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral and tea at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 1:00pm on Monday, March 29. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Margaret T. Craig Scholarship at the University of North Texas, or the library program for residents of Mount Saint Mary Hospital in Victoria. 583228
