Avis de décès de Margaret Carter

CARTER _ Margaret May Carter, age 90, died peacefully in her sleep at the University Hospital in Vancouver on Friday, March 7, 2003 after a very brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband Jack; her brother Arni Eggertson and is survived by two sisters, Edwina Sigridur McNaughton and Gudrun Sigridur Bleackley; as well as many loving relatives and friends. Born May 5, 1912 Margaret was a member of a large and notable Manitoba family of Icelandic Canadian pioneers. After the death of her father, Halldor Eggertson in 1918 the family moved to Glenboro, Manitoba where her grandfather Arni Sveinsson, one of the first Icelandic settlers in the area, was a noted farmer, carpenter and community leader. In the 1940s Margaret and her husband Jack moved to Vancouver where they enjoyed a happy life together until his death in 1993. They were both prize-winning lawn bowlers and she continued in the sport until well in her 80s. A warm, generous and sociable person with lots of sparkle, spunk and charm, Margaret was truly loved and we will all miss her dearly, especially sister Edwina and niece Sharon. On Thursday, March 13, 2003 friends and family will celebrate her life at a reception at her home, where she lived so happily for so many years.
