Avis de décès de Margaret Barton

BARTON, Margaret Late of Kingsville, went to her eternal home on October 18, 2006, from the Leamington District Memorial Hospital. She is deeply mourned and greatly missed by the two men in her life: her son, Norman Barton, and her husband, Victor Dirks. She is also survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Rob Fraser), and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Jenny Loggan, by her first husband, Thomas Barton, and by her brother-in-law, Henry Dirks. Margaret was born October 22, 1928 in South Shields, England. She came to Canada as a two year old, with her parents, and lived her entire life in Essex County, Ontario. She grew up in Walkerville, went into secretarial work, beginning at Hiram Walker's. Moved to the Harrow area in 1974, and to Kingsville in 1987. She was active in the Anglican Church for much of her life, a member at St. Barnabas in Windsor for many years, later at St. Andrew's in Harrow. She sang in church choirs and played the organ. In addition, her skills as pianist (ATCM) served her in worship services and with the Harrowood Seniors' Choir. Margaret had a wonderfully warm and open nature, and made friends wherever she went. Her skills as a raconteaur and conversationalist made her an ideal B&B hostess; an enterprise that was part of her retirement years in Kingsville. This brought in friends from Ontario, other Canadian provinces, the USA and indeed, every continent of the world. Her empathy for the less fortunate found expression in gifts that challenged her means; her personal acts of generosity, inevitably non tax deductible, were typically seen only by her Father in Heaven. That care extended to all living creatures, including birds and abandoned pets, especially to her dear collie, Sunny. Her marriage to Victor Dirks in 1987 brought along a large family of in-laws; her husband's seven siblings: Neil (Laurette), Elisabeth, Irene, Henry (Betty), John (Fay), Rosemarie (Arnie), and Marguerite (Rudolf), plus their descendants; it also brought the Mennonite Church and community into her life. Her request of cremation and a private burial service in Victoria Cemetery, Windsor, has been respected; a memorial service celebrating her life is planned for November at the Harrow Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her memory may be made to Leamington District Hospital, in appreciation of the excellent care given to her, or to wildlife and animal rescue charities. Margaret had strong Christian convictions and faith; that sustained her throughout life, with its joys and problems; even in times of pain and suffering. At this time, the words of Paul are entirely appropriate: "I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith." Hers is now the joy of the Lord. Arrangements entrusted to the C. Stuart Sykes Funeral Home , Kingsville. (519) 733-4111.
