Margaret-Ann Wheeler, née en 1924, conjointe de Hank Wheeler, fille de Charles et Margaret, est décédée le 23 avril 2012 à l'âge de 88 ans.
MARGARET ANN WHEELER CROWN POINT, IN Margaret Ann Wheeler, age 88, of Crown Point, passed away Monday April 23, 2012. She was born in Sacramento, CA, on January 2, 1924, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Gardipee. Peggy, as she was known, graduated from The University of California in Berkely in only three years, then joined the U.S. Navy "WAVE" program to do her part in WWII. After the war, she worked as a civilian contractor for the Navy in the reconstruction of facilities on Guam in the Marianas Islands. She returned to the States and graduated from the University of California medical school in San Francisco with a degree in physical therapy. It was while pursuing this career that she met the love of her life, Harry H. "Hank" Wheeler, and she married and moved to Crown Point. She is survived by sons: Charles (Betty) of Crown Point, Henry (Andrea) of Nederland, CO and James (Kim) of Thornton, CO; nieces, nephews, and four grandchildren: John, Kristen, Maxwell and Natasha. She was preceded in death by husband, Hank; son, John; and brother, Dr. Charles Gardipee of El Cerrito, CA. She was a life member of the American Legion Post 20 in Crown Point. As a mother, she loved having a house full of neighborhood kids, and hence an excuse to bake cookies for all. In her later years, she loved the privacy of her house and yard and the quiet of it not being full of the neighborhood kids. Per her request, there will be no service with Giesen Funeral Home handling cremation. Donations can be made to the Lake County Courthouse Foundation in her name.
