Connolly, Marcia Jane (Heintzelman), of Boynton Beach, FL, Chautauqua, NY and Wayland, MA, died March 15, 2008 at age 70. Mrs. Connolly died peacefully from heart failure and complications of rheumatoid arthritis. She was born on March 26, 1937 in South Bend, Indiana. Marcia Connolly was retired from her position as Associate Director of Admissions for Harvard College. She had loved the job and looked forward each year to advising at least a few of the entering freshmen she had come to know well in the admissions process. Mrs. Connolly was also a Trustee of Chautauqua Institution from 1990 to 1998, co-chair of the Chautauqua Annual Giving Fund from 2001 to 2005, and a tireless advocate for the Chautauqua Opera. She loved her summers at Chautauqua and the renewal she received there among friends and family. Her passions included golf, concerts, the opera, and most of all, family. She is survived by her husband, John S. Connolly, Jr.; her daughter, Melissa Orlov of Wayland, MA and Chautauqua, NY; her son, John S. Connolly, III of Weston, MA; five grandchildren and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to a special opera fund being set up in her name at Chautauqua Institution, P.O. Box 28, Chautauqua, NY 14722. A memorial service will be held in Chautauqua during the summer.
