Winterville - Mamie T. Carter, 95, wife of the late Clarence Lee Carter, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at her residence. Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Mary Ann Treadwell. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son Clarence Alburn Carter and daughter, Dot Williams. She was a member of Grove Chapel Church. Survivors include her daughter; Mrs. James (Mary) Tiller of Athens, son in law Mr. Weyman Williams of Winterville, 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2PM, Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Revs. George Ormsbee and Chuck Tatum officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Arnoldsville Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Arnoldsville Cemetery Fund, c/o Grace Young, Lord & Stephens, EAST is in charge of arrangements.
