Mamie has always loved the hymn "I'll Fly Away" and now she has taken flight and is at home on God's celestial shore. She died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.Mamie was a beloved daughter, devoted wife, nurturing mother, loving aunt and caring friend. She grew up in Murfreesboro with ten siblings and moved to Lebanon after marrying, then to Georgia for a short time, and finally settled in the Norene Community to raise her three children. She cherished her church family at Hurricane Baptist Church and celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in 1996. Survivors include son, Webb (Cathy) Edwards of Arizona; two daughters, Anne Edwards (Don) Russell of Florida and Connie Jewell Edwards (Donny) Jordan of Lebanon; sister, Lura Alsup Rogers of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Shawn Edwards and Heath Webb (Claire) Edwards; three great-grandchildren, Brooke Leveille, Catherine Jewel "C.J." Edwards and Quinn Webb Edwards; and niece, Faye Huddleston, who has lived with her the past 17 years.Mamie is preceded in death by her parents, John Wilson and Lura Mount Alsup; husband, Clyde Webb Edwards; brothers, Arlie, Lillard, Carl, Johnny, Prentice and Hylan Alsup; sisters, Clara Ingram, Nettie Massey and Annie Stuart.Celebration of Life services will be on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11 a.m., in the Partlow Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Kenneth Tramel and Bro. Ronnie Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Norene. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 2:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., and on May 9, 2014 from 9 a.m. until time of service.
