Mae G. "Velma" Johnson, 65, of Louisville, passed away Friday at Jewish Hospital. She was a native of Tuskegee, AL, and a member of Greater First Timothy Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, James C. Johnson; four daughters, Toni, Tina, Tawanna and Tamica Johnson; three sons, Keith Welch and Greg (Evelyn) and Terry Johnson; mother, Josie P. Welch; three sisters, Sadie Sistrunk, Rosie Carr and Sarah E. Welch; seven brothers, Wallace and Percy Jones of Detroit, MI, and Jimmie Jr. (Charlene), Ronnie, Maurice (Johnetta), Dwayne and Charles Welch; a special friend, Willie F. Smith; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Zion Baptist Church, 1501 S. 34th St., with burial in Green Meadows Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at New Zion Baptist Church. Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons in charge of arrangements.
