Mae Gibson Harden Foster, of Walhalla, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at the home of her son in Clemson. She is remembered by many in Walhalla as the nurse in the office of Dr. John T. Davis, where she assisted him for 24 years. She was married to Mart L. Harden Jr. of Walhalla from 1946 until his death in 1967. She was later married to C.V. (Verner) Foster of Walhalla from 1985 until his death in 1993. Mae, born on March 8, 1927, was the daughter of the late John Walter and Lillie Mae Leard Gibson. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jewel Dempsey of Taylors, and she is predeceased by two brothers, John F. (Johnnie) Gibson and the Rev. Lewis W. Gibson. She leaves three children: a daughter, Mrs. Nedrah H. McBride and her husband, John, of Walhalla; a son, Mr. John M. Harden and his wife, Christel, of Clemson; and a stepson, Mr. Michael Foster and his wife, Kathy, of Oakway. Her grandchildren are Scott McBride and his wife, Stephanie, of York, S.C., Julia McBride of Walhalla, James Harden of Seneca, Mary Katherine Harden of Clemson, Stephen Foster of Clemson, Alan Foster serving with the Peace Corps in Panama, and Daniel Foster of Colorado. A great-grandchild, Olivia Mae McBride, is due in April.The family is at her home in Walhalla. A memorial service will be held at College Street Baptist Church on Friday March 3, 2006, at 11 a.m., and the family will receive friends at the church afterwards. A private interment will take place at a later date. The family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations instead be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.Cremation Society of South Carolina.
