Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mae Bell Smith, 90, of Cleveland. Mrs. Smith passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at Friendship Healthcare and Rehab in Cleveland following an extended illness.Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Flynn and the Rev. Truett Simmemon officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.Mrs. Smith was born in Habersham County to the late Ross McDuffie and Tennie Martin McDuffie. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Laymon Smith; daughter-in-law, Maxine McDuffie Smith; brothers, Sam McDuffie, Obie McDuffie and Clarence McDuffie; and sisters, Madelee Gerrells, Donnie Simmons and Myrtle McCallister.Survivors include her son, Stanley McDuffie of Cleveland; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.Condolences may be sent to the family of Mrs. Smith to www.alexander-funeral.com.Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland in charge of arrangements (706) 865-1500.
