LOUDONVILLE Mabel Anderson of Loudonville died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Mary Felt Grossman. Mabel was employed by the former New York Telephone Company for 47 years and retired in 1971. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, former president of Altrusa International Club and a member of the Albany Business Professional Women's Club. She was a volunteer at Albany Memorial Hospital for 30 years, a volunteer at Red Cross and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Throughout her lifetime, Mabel was a very devoted care giver to several relatives and friends. In her final year of life, her many friends and family supported Mabel in a very caring and loving manner. She was the beloved aunt of Thomas W. and Jean Smith; cherished great-aunt of Thomas Anderson Smith; and loving cousin of John Auger. Though she will be sorely missed, Mabel, who was held as a loving matriarch of her family, has left a legacy that will live on in the lives of her loved ones. She was affectionately known as Mabe to her family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Francis G. Anderson of Stockholm, Sweden; her brother, Frederick E. Grossman; and four sisters, Alma Slater, Mary Morrison, Edith Grossman and Elizabeth Smith. Mabel has chosen to participate in the anatomical gift program at Albany Medical College. There will be a memorial service for Mabel which will be announced at a later date. Memorial gifts, in honor of Mabel, may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Albany, N.Y.
