Mabel Allen Smith, 89, of Campbellsville, died at 2:58 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, in Campbellsville.Daughter of the late John W. Allen and Nannie White Allen, she was born in Barren County, Ky., on Oct. 31, 1924.She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. She retired from Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after 47 years of service. She married Ralph Smith on Jan. 28, 1944. He preceded her in death October 26, 1986.Survivors include a son, Tom Smith and his wife, Kathy, of Cartersville, Ga.; a daughter, Anne Gorin and her husband, Walt, of Greensburg, Ky; five grandchildren, the Rev. Andy Smith and his wife, Kim, of Cookeville, Tenn., LCDR Thomas Smith (USN) and his wife, Joanna, of London, England, Steve Smith and his wife, Ashley, of Dallas, Ga., Michelle Gorin of Lexington, Ky., and Jill Frost and her husband, Jon, of Nashville, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Erika Smith and Daniel Smith of Cookeville, Tenn. and Kate Frost of Nashville; a sister, Clara Lee Rafferty of Campbellsville; two special caregivers, Annette Dengel and Brittany Judd; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Damon E. Allen and James W. Allen; and a sister, Josie Ann Newcomb.Funeral was Saturday, Aug. 23, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville.
