Michael Joseph Harrington, age 96, a 65 year resident of Larchmont, died on June 15, 2004 in his beloved home. Michael was born October 26, 1907 in Glen Gariff County Cork Ireland. He emigrated to America in 1930 and married Kathleen (nee Harrington) of County Kerry Ireland in 1939 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck on New Year's Eve. He recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. Beloved husband of Kathleen, cherished father of Michael and Gail Harrington of Larchmont; Denis and Lynn Harrington of Pound Ridge and Mary Ann Harrington of Larchmont. Devoted grandfather of Denise (husband, Robert) Cohen, Vincent Barth and Vanessa Harrington and great-grandfather of Madeline and Michael Cohen. He is predeceased by sons: Donald Patrick and John Thomas. Michael was educated at Youngfield National School in Glen Gariff. He was Irish Football champion of West Cork during his youth. He spoke fluent Gaelic and was a self-taught musician. He had a long and varied career, including James Butler Grocery Company, Fifth Ave. Coach Co., New York Omnibus, New Haven Hartford Military Police during WWII, Schaefer Brewing Co. and a school crossing guard in Larchmont late into his 70's. He retired at 80. Professional religious organizations include Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division of Honorary Life member and Officer of Knights of Columbus Color Corp., Cardinal Farley 4th Degree Council 2247. He was one of the founders and benefactors of Sts. John and Paul R.C. Church since 1949, where he was a member of the Men's Club and usher and also a longtime member of the American Irish Association. Michael cherished his family, his church, his birth and adopted countries, music, song, his garden, his porch and many friends. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 East Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, NY. Funeral Mass Friday 10 am at Sts. John and Paul R.C. Church, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
