AUGUSTA -- Melina M. LaBonte, 94, of Congress Street, died Jan. 13, 2013, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born in Winslow on Sept. 26, 1918, the daughter of Eugene Paradis and Amanda (Poulin) Paradis.Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the city of Augusta in the Augusta School System as a food service worker at Farrington School. She was previously employed by the cotton mill and the toothpick mill, both in Waterville.Mrs. LaBonte was a member of St. Michael Parish at St. Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society, Cushnoc Senior Citizens and Happy Family Senior Citizens.She was predeceased by her husband, George Joseph Alfred LaBonte, in 1988. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Eugene LaBonte; her parents; a special uncle, Arthur Poulin; a sister, Marie Ange Roy; and two brothers, Ernest Paradis and Alfred "Pete" Paradis.Surviving are two daughters, Laurie LaBonte, of Farmingdale, and Vickie Thiele and her husband, Bill, of Hollis; three grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher and his wife, Marissa, and Jeremy and his wife, Stephanie; four great-grandchildren, William, Olivia, Claire and Jake; and many nieces and nephews.Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where members of the Ladies of St. Anne Society are asked to meet at 6:15 p.m. to offer a brief prayer service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be in Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, at a later date.
