CARPENTER, MARY STUBBLEFIELD - age 98, left this life on May 30, 2014 to be with her Lord and Savior. Her work here has been completed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Carpenter, mother, Sallie P. Stubblefield, father, and 5 brothers. Mary was born an athlete; competing with 5 brothers; playing basketball, softball, bowling team, couples' golf, women's golf, and winning many awards in all sports. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mary retired from TVA Accounting after 43 years. She worked for the "FISH" food program, and also delivered meals on wheels for 20 years. In honor of her husband Frank, she also maintained his huge rose garden 30 + years after his death: sharing roses with anyone she met. Special thanks to all the 24-7 caregivers who loved and cared for Ms. Mary 4 + years, who became family. Special thanks to Ms. Mary's doctor: Dr. Burkhart: whom she totally trusted as a Doctor and dear friend. Thanks to the Covenant Health hospice group who ministered to Mary and all her caregivers. Mary was much loved and will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
