ANDERSON, MARY KATHLEEN "KATHY" MADDOX of Kimberly, Alabama was born on April 18, 1972 and passed away on April 17, 2013 at the age of 40. Kathy is survived by her husband of 18 years, Scott; their three sons Timothy, Chris and Jacob; parents Tommy and Sara Maddox; sisters Jennifer Lynch and Wendy Blaylock; and many other family and friends. Kathy deeply loved her husband and her three boys. She was a devoted teacher, delighting in her students, and was known for her kind heart and giving spirit. Kathy grew up in Adamsville, Alabama graduating from Minor High School with honors. She obtained a double-major in English and History from the University of Montevallo and a Masters degree in Special Education from UAB. Kathy?s career included teaching special education at Minor High School in Adamsville and Bryan Elementary in Kimberly. Most recently, she has served as Adjunct Professor at Virginia College in Birmingham. She was an active member of Enon Baptist Church, teaching and serving in their children?s department. She previously attended and was married at Westwood Baptist Church in Forestdale. Both churches significantly influenced Kathy?s deep faith in Christ. The family will receive visitors at Ridout?s Chapel in Gardendale on Sunday, April 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, April 22 at 1 p.m. preceded by visitation at 12 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church in Morris. Graveside services will follow at Valhalla cemetery in Midfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kathy and Scott Anderson Children?s fund.
