<!-- FH = BLOUNT, CURRY & ROEL FUNERAL -->CORRIGAN, Mary Katheryne, 83, of Tampa, previously of Pelham, N.Y., died peacefully in her sleep Friday, December 2, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10, at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church. Mary K. was born in Havana, Cuba, July 10, 1928, the daughter of Verner Calvin Jordan Sr. and Katheryne Brown White, who predeceased her. Her childhood was spent in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mary K. was a 1949 graduate in History of Duke University, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and she remained a staunch supporter of Duke throughout her life. After graduation she moved to New York, where she worked for Loomis Sayles. She met Edward Thomas Corrigan, a cadet serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines, onboard ship, sailing from Argentina to New York, and they were married February 26, 1955. They moved to Pelham, N.Y., in 1963, where they lived until his death in 1977. In 1984, Mary K. relocated to Tampa, where she worked as an underwriter for Poe and Associates. Throughout her life, Mary K. was an active volunteer - with the Girl and Boy Scouts and the PTA, and then, when she moved to Tampa, with The Spring of Tampa Bay and the Florida Orchestra, where she could support her lifelong love of music and the performing arts. She was a longtime parishioner of Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, where for more than 20 years, she taught an adult Sunday school class, and participated in a book club that nourished her avid enjoyment of reading and discussion. Until shortly before her death, she was still an active and beloved volunteer at the Tampa General Hospital Healthpark clinics, where she provided translation services and support throughout the provided programs. Mary K. is survived by her children, Katheryne R. Doughty and E. Jordan Corrigan; their spouses, Russell J. Doughty and Christine R. Corrigan; her granddaughters, Elizabeth Darcy Corrigan and Anne Katheryne Corrigan; a sister, Margaret J. Stevens and her husband, Charles L. Stevens III; and her loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward T. Corrigan; and by her brother, Verner C.
