FARMINGDALE -- Mary Jane Dupont, 74, of Farmingdale, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Facility at Gray Birch. She was born in Gardiner on Dec. 11, 1938, the daughter of George Jr. and Julie Lessard Curtis.Mary Jane will be remembered for many things, most of which was her caretaking nature. She was always willing to help others in need and provided end-of-life care for her own as well as her husband's parents. Mary Jane was very fond of her father-in-law "Pop," who passed most recently. She easily made friends and was passionate towards animals, domestic and wild. She loved her beagle, Dukie, as well as the many other animals she had throughout her life.Family and friends enjoyed her cooking and baking, especially her cabbage rolls and whoopie pies. There were always extras to send home. She was talented in a variety of crafts, one of which was making beautiful baskets. She was interested in American Indians, wolves and foxes. Mary Jane loved going lawn-saleing, especially when the grandchildren were younger. In her earlier years, Mary Jane worked at Bath Iron Works. She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Dupont. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, John and Stephanie Dupont, of Farmingdale; son William Dupont, of Farmingdale; and daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Joseph Kepple, of South China; sister Pauline Webb, of Pittston; brother George and sister-in-law Rose Curtis, of Augusta; brother Walter James Curtis and sister-in-law Anna, of Fayette; sister Ann and brother-in-law Melvin Lunt, of Farmingdale; and brother Edward Curtis and sister-in-law Sue, of Augusta; brother-in-law Sidney Dupont and Julie, of Waterville; grandchildren Sarah Dupont, of Cape Elizabeth, Lauryn and Logan Dupont, of Farmingdale, and Joseph and Katrina Kepple, of South China.Burial service will be at Hillside Cemetery in Georgetown at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the staff at Gray Birch for the loving care that was provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
