EDWARDS, MARY ELIZABETH VANDERBURG Age 92, of Hoover, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Mary Elizabeth, "Honey", was a loving and caring wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a current member of First Baptist Church of Pell City, and a former member of Sixty Sixth Street Baptist in Wahouma, part of Woodlawn. Mary Elizabeth grew up in the Woodlawn area, attended and graduated from Woodlawn High School. She retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. in Birmingham. She loved to be with family and friends, travel on torchclub trips with her husband, Julian, and sing in the church choir at Sixty Sixth Street. She spent her last nine years at The Village at Cook Springs in Cook Springs and The Oaks on Parkwood in the Hoover, Bessemer area. If you were her friend, you were a friend for life. Her caring and loving friendship will be missed by many. Mary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Dolius D. and Ila Marie Ensley; daughter, Cheryl R. Vanderburg; husband, Edwin F. Vanderburg; husband, Julian P. Edwards; aunt, Alma Culbreath; sister, Helen Marie Morris; brother-in-laws, H. K. "Buck" Morris, Marvin Condray and Chester H. Edwards, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Ruby Edwards. She is survived by her sons, Edwin D. Vanderburg (Thelma) of Hoover, AL and Jerry P. Edwards (Thyra) of Fountain Hills, AZ; sister, Jean Condray of Birmingham, AL; neice, Judy Avrett of Augusta, GA; nephews, Michael Condray of Birmingham, AL and Gary Condray (Abbie) of Pell City, AL; daughter-in-law, Brenda D. Vanderburg of Birmingham; granddaughters, Carol V. Kizer (Russell) and Traci V. Frazier (Sidney); grandson, Dr. Barry Dabbs (Solange); and great-grandchildren, Meredith, Madeline, Courtney, Peyton, Meleigha, Kyle and Garrison. Special thank you to the Noland Health Care Nursing Home, The Village at Cook Springs staff and special friends, Rebecca and Janice, and The Oaks on Parkwood staff and special friends, Christina and Jacqueline Elaine. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Ridout's Trussville Chapel from 1-2 PM with a chapel service beginning at 2 with Rev. Harold Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. >>
