Mary A. Green, a 45 year resident of Garnerville and former Receiver of Taxes for the Town of Haverstraw, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2002 with her family present . She was 80. Mrs. Green retired from Town Government in December 1997 after spending 35 years in the Town Tax Office. She was elected as the Receiver of Taxes in November 1973. Mrs. Green was born in New York City to Helen Guinan and John Fallon on July 5, 1921. She graduated from St. Simon Stock High School, Bronx, NY and was employed as a Tax Accountant for Gulf Oil in NYC. Mrs. Green was a founding parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Roman Catholic Church, a 25 year member and past president of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the S.W. Johnson Steam Fire Engine Co. #1 in Garnerville. Mrs. Green was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1982, her sisters Theresa and Frances and a brother Daniel. She is survived by her son Joseph and daughter-in-law Deirdre of Palisades, NY, her daughter Mary Green Fahy and four loving grandchildren Helen, Bridget, John and Liam of Garnerville. She is also survived by her siblings Margaret Linen of Valley Cottage, Helen Krienik of Bronxville, NY, John W. and JoanFallon of Breezy Point, NY and Gerard C. and Claire Fallon of Ridgewood, NJ and her sister-in-law Charlotte Fallon of Pearl River, NY. and many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday and Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 pm at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, Garnerville. Mary's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Gregory Barbarigo Church, Cinder Road, Garnerville or Marian Shrine Recovery Fund, West Haverstraw, NY in Mary's memory.
