WHELAN, MARTIN EDWARD, 77, passed away Thursday, June 27 in Orlando, FL. Born in Independence, KY and a resident of Central Florida since 1978. Mr. Whelan was a US Navy Veteran, serving during WWII at Pearl Harbor on the USS Buchanan DD484. He was a member of the American Legion Post 286, the Moose Lodge #2345, and Always a Friend of Firemen and Policemen in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Mr. Whelan was an upholsterer for more than fifty years. He is survived by his wife, Elmae Whelan; son, Martin Whelan of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; daughters, Tina Merola of St. Pete Beach, FL and Sunny Fitt of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; stepsons, Thomas Kwader of Tallahassee, FL, and Kevin Kwader of Orlando, FL; step-daughters, Dawn Brogdon of Orlando, FL, Laurrie Cassidy of Orlando, FL, Elmae Tarrant of New Haven, CT, and Mary Ann Kwader of Gainesville, FL; sister, Mary Mullikin of Covington, KY; sisters-in-law, Jo Whelan of Covington, KY, and Gayle Whelan of Dayton, OH; seventeen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many beloved nieces and nephews. A gathering for friends will be held Saturday, June 29 from 6-8PM at the Baldwin-Fairchild Pine Castle Chapel with Memorial Services at 7PM.
