VESTAVIA- Martha Gail Creed King, 76, died September 3, 2012, after an extended illness. Born in Ragland in 1936, she was a high school cheerleader, homecoming queen, driving instructor, substitute teacher, Shades Valley football booster. Mountiette mom and PTA volunteer. For 20 years, she and her husband owned and operated King's Cottages in Sunnyside, Florida. Above all, she was a storyteller with a quick wit and a mind full of memories. Her greatest joy, however, was family. She loved nothing more than a house full of children and grandchildren, especially during the holidays. You could count on "Mimi" to dye Easter eggs in her old coffee cups, dress up for Halloween and craft apple turkeys with toothpick legs for Thanksgiving. Her candy bowl was always full. She is survived by her children and their spouses, William, Jr., and Martha King, Chris and Karen King and Martha and Ray Bonner all of Birmingham, Creed and Heidi King of Tallahassee, FL; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" King. A celebration of her life took place Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City (205-338-3341) followed by a chapel service Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service followed at the Ragland Methodist Cemetery. Thank you to the staff of The Village at Cook Springs (especially Pam) and Oasis Hospice for the love and care shown to our Mother. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.
