SNYDER, MARJORIE, age 79, died November 28, 2004. Born and raised in Nevada, Missouri. She attended Cottey College in Nevada and finished at the University of Kansas. She married her childhood sweetheart, John, in 1948. Marjorie became a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in 1943, a philanthropic educational organization, which owns and supports Cottey College. P.E.O. became a dominate influence in her life. She served as state president of Louisiana and initiated the formation of several chapters in other states. A wonderful love for children, Marjorie taught kindergarten before her marriage. Kids loved her because of her sincere interest in their lives. In her last weeks, she wrote about a young neighbor girl, Erica, who visited often, "If we can receive such unsolicited love from a child whose presence blesses the days of our life, we have accomplished what the Lord put us here to do for Him." Preceded in death by her son, John Hoffmann Snyder, and brother, Wilbur Hoffmann, Jr. Survived by her beloved husband, John Snyder, devoted daughter, Sidney Snyder, and special nieces, Michelle Hoffmann, Susan Rabuck, Kendra Polanco and Dianne Hixenbaugh. Memorial service will be held on December 11, 2004, at 10:30AM at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, Reformation Chapel. Burial will be in Nevada, Missouri.
