A celebration of life for Marjorie Hobbie Womack will be 4:30 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange. The family will be receiving friends for two hours prior to the celebration, from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm at the funeral home. The interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, North Carolina on Saturday, Januaruy 7, 2012. Marjorie went to her heavenly home on January 1, 2012 with her family by her side in Port Orange, Florida. Her last years have been surrounded by her family and friends, filled with much love and comfort. She was cared for by her daughter, Dale, close friend, Donna Henderson, granddaughter, Denise Fink, along with loving care from Debbie Snyder and Echo Pinkly. Marjorie was born in Durham, N.C. on September 14, 1912, to her late parents, Joe and Ella Blanche Hobbie. She was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters. She graduated from Durham, High School in 1930. She worked at Durham County Registrar of Deeds for 48 years, this being her first and only full-time job. She rtired in 1981. Marjorie was married to Herbert Marshall Womack on June 7, 1935 (died May 1, 1985). They had a daughter, Marjorie Dale (nee' Womack) Stump, Port Orange and a son, Herbert Marshall, Jr., Oviedo, FL. She lived in Durham for 87 years before moving permanently to Port Orange in June, 2000, living with her daughter, Dale and son-in-law, Rev. Paul. Marjorie leves behind to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Dale Stump; loving son, Herbert Marshall, Jr.; granddaughter, Deborah Denise Stump Fink; grandsons, Marty and Woody Womack; great grandsons, Alex and Toby Fink. Marjorie loved Florida and riding on the beach eating ice cream. She was an active member of the Durham Alliance Church, Durham, N.C. and Colony Community Church, Daytona Beach, Florida. She will always be remembered as one of the most caring, giving persons to her family and friends. She often said, "as I am getting to the end of life's journey, I realize that I have had a good life and have really enjoyed living. Happiness lies within oneself and a good positive attitude is better than a pill." The family wants to say, "Thank you mom for instilling in us the importance of a positive attitude filled with many positive thoughts, memories and laughs." In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Christian Broadcasting-Good Life, 31 Sky, Lake Mary, FL 32746 or to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 that graciously supported us this last month.
