MARGARET LOUISE "MARGE" HENDERSONJUNE 29, 2011Margaret Louise "Marge" Henderson, age 97, died peacefully Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Friendship Village of Columbus Health Center. She was born October 15, 1913 in Fostoria, Ohio and is preceded in death by her parents John and Laura Rausch; brothers, Walter and Eugene Rausch and sisters, Ida Kuentz and Helen Rausch; her husband Roy Huffman and second husband Jack enderson and son-in-law Tom Hill. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Lee Hill, of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Craig Hill of Plain City, Ohio and Kristin Hill of Austin, Texas. Margaret was affectionately known as "GG" to her great-grandchildren: Thomas Hill, Kyrie Maxwell, Devin Hill and Shannon Miller. Margaret graduated from Flat Rock Township High School, in Florida, Ohio in 1932 where she served as first violinist in the orchestra and vice-president of the senior class. Margaret attended business school and worked as a secretary after high school. Looking for adventure, she enlisted in the United States Navy in January, 1944 and was honorably discharged February, 1946 as a Yeoman, First Class. She served as an administrative assistant to the Navy V-12 Unit at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where she was issued the WWII Victory Medal. Margaret traveled extensively throughout the world, except Canada. She saw the world with an artistic flair that touched all who knew her. She was an avid reader and her family and friends cherished her zest for life and her genuine concern for others. Margaret retired to her "Heaven on Earth" Fort Myers, Florida from the farmland of Northwest Ohio. The ocean, marine life and tropical flora became a passion in her life. Swimming, aerobic exercise classes, traveling, card clubs and bingo were among her varied interests while keeping a watchful eye on her family "up North" to make sure they were ok. Independence, resiliency, determination and love of family were the cornerstones of her life. The family wishes to thank Friendship Village of Columbus for the dedicated care given to Margaret while she lived in the independent, assisted living and health care sections of the community. Ohio Health- HomeReach Hospice provided personalized life-affirming care and support to Margaret in her final months as well as much needed support to her family. In lieu of flowers, friends, if they wish, may make memorial contributions to HomeReach Hospice, Ohio Health Foundation, 180 East Broad St., Floor 32, Columbus, OH 43215-9480, in Margaret's memory. A private graveside memorial with military honors will be held for Margaret by her family at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, Ft. Myers, Florida.
