BROWN M-Kathleen (Kay). At the Oakwood Terrace Home for Special Care, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, formerly of Kentville, Nova Scotia, on April 4, 1999, at the age of ninety years. Born in Waterville, Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Ella (Cleveland) Smith. She was a graduate of Bishop's University, Lennoxville, and taught school in Shawinigan, Quebec and Kentville, Nova Scotia. She was an elder and a Sunday School teacher in the United Church of St. Paul and St. Stephen, Kentville; a life member of the Woman's Association of the United Church of Canada; a life member of the Olympic Chapter of the IODE; a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Evangeline Chapter No. 15; and had been active for many years in the New Horizons Senior Citizens Group, Kentville. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Jorgen Bernt), Oakville, Ontario, son, Richard, and wife Barbara, Dartmouth; stepson, B. Roderick and wife, Velma, Montreal; five grandchildren, Andrew and Ian Brown; Kurt, Karen and Kirsten Bernt. She was predeceased by her husband, William Roderick; brothers, Cleveland and Robert; sister, Evelyn; stepdaughter, Shirley. Visitation will be 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6 in the W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville,. Funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 1999 in the United Church of Saint Paul and Saint Stephen, Kentville. Reverend Boyd Vincent will officiate. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity.
