March 9, 2009 Dodie Murphy, 79, of Syracuse, NY and Stuart, Florida, passed away at Iroquois Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, Syracuse, NY and Holy Redeemer Church, Stuart, Florida. Dodie graduated from the Covenant School in Syracuse and Oswego State. She worked for many years at GTE. Bridge, Bingo and Family were among her many pleasures. Dodie was predeceased by her son, David Murphy. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Matthew Murphy; daughter, Maureen (John) Lavigne of Melrose, NY; son, Kevin (Lori) Murphy of Onondaga Hill; and son, Timothy Murphy of Westvale; grandchildren, Brian and Gregory Lavigne, Bridget (Jared) Chapko, Sean Murphy, Erin (Pete) O'Brien and Ryan Murphy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and many good friends. Funeral services will be Friday, March 13, at 9&#58;30 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 4461 Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 12, 4 to 7 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse.
