SHAW, LynneDecember 30, 1933 - March 13, 2015It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lynne Shaw announce her sudden passing on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the age of 81. Lynne is off to Heaven to be with her brothers Bert and Ward Shaw.Lynne Shaw was a wonderful mother and grandmother giving unconditional love to her family, friends and to all she met. Lynne was a beautiful person, unselfish, warm, totally caring with a magical power to brighten your day.Lynne Shaw was one of Edmonton's outstanding vocalists and will be remembered for her beautiful voice, her wonderful vitality and energy and her love of performing. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Lynne had an extensive singing career in the UK and Canada, gracing many stages and numerous engagements including BBC Radio and CBC TV. Highlights of her career included regular appearances on CBC's 'The Don Messer Show' and 'The Pig and Whistle Show'. After moving to Edmonton, Lynne continued with radio and television appearances and many wonderful live performances. She performed with the Tommy Banks Orchestra, the Mac Cameron Trio, the Jim Oscroft trio, and many other talented Edmonton musicians. Lynne was also one of Edmonton's popular Klondike performers. Most recently, Lynne appeared with her dear friend George Lake in his bands '3 Guys and A Gal' and the 'Hawaiian Treasures' sharing her lovely voice with many seniors at local care centres. Lynne is survived by her daughter Deborah Glover, son David (Sharon) Glover and her daughter Trudy (Paul) Shafer, grandchildren Jon Glover, Jason Glover, Jordan Glover and Aiden Shafer.Lynne was predeceased by her parents Eva and Herbert Shaw, her brothers Bert Shaw and Ward Shaw.A Celebration of Lynne's Life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 RR 232 (south of Wye Road), Sherwood Park, AB. Memorial donations may be made in Lynne's name to the Cross Cancer Institute through the Alberta Cancer Foundation at albertacancer.ca.
