She was a graduate of Shades Valley High School, attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Lynn worked as a legal secretary and successful real estate agent for many years in the Birmingham area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Miriam Whalen and her sister, Susan W. Gaskell. She is survived... by her children, Margaret Smith (Tom) Pruden of St. Louis, MO and Arthur W. (Sherry) Smith, III of Chelsea, her sisters, Beverly (Ron) Carroway and Salena (Marc) Stalker of Vestavia Hills, Glenda (Rick) Johnson of Huntsville, and her grandchildren, John William and Thomas Yeates Pruden and Mary Elizabeth Smith. Memorial service to be held at Elmwood Chapel (600 Martin Luther King Jr, DR Birmingham, AL 35211 /205-251-3114) on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2pm; interment at Elmwood Cemetery to follow.
