Funeral for Luther Eugene Johnson, 85, of Falkville was Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Hale and the Rev. Billy Teague officiating. Burial was with military honors in Hartselle Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Johnson died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Pulaski, Tenn. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Johnson was a Mason, and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Madge Johnson; two sons, Kenneth E. Johnson and wife Cindy of Winston, Ga., and Phillip C. Johnson and wife Trish of Monticello, Ga.; four stepsons, Kenneth A. Johnson and wife Carolyn of Hartselle, and Billy Vest and wife Dona, Wayne Vest and wife Alene, and Vance Vest and wife Ann, all of Falkville; three stepdaughters, JoAnn Montgomery and husband Milton of Hartselle, Oralean Brown and husband Wayne of North Carolina, and Janice Newton and husband Donald of Lanette; one sister, Ruth Cruze of Florida; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bryan Vest, John Hart, Raymond Vinson, Bobby Strickland and Phillip Waldrep.
