Mrs. Lula Mae Samples Smith, 85, of Buford passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009. She was the widow of the late Mr. Levi Smith. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Lula Jane Samples; sisters, Allene Gilbert, Lee Clara Holtzclaw, Ruby Stewart, Effie Mullinax and Edith Pruitt; and brother, Noah T. Samples Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Mardell Smith Hogan, Flowery Branch, and Joan Smith, Flowery Branch; sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Smith, Flowery Branch, Noah and Pam Smith, Dahlonega, and Franklin and Jane Smith, Danielsville; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Eula Jean Shadburn, Buford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 2, 1924, and was a native of Forsyth County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church in Flowery Branch. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Shadburn and the Rev. Noah Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Arrangements are by Junior E.
