77, of Sandy Hook, CT, formerly of North Salem, NY, died Friday, December 21, 2001 in Newtown, CT. Mrs. Smith was born February 20, 1924 in Holland to Berend and Jantje (Schots) Smit. She had graduated from schools in Bronx, NY. Mrs. Smith married George J. Smith in November of 1948, who passed away on March 7, 2001. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Croton Falls Presbyterian Church for many years. She has been a Sandy Hook resident for five years, having lived in North Salem for 42 years. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son David Smith of St. Petersburg, FL and a daughter, Lucina Buonocore of Sandy Hook, CT. Also six grandchildren, Vanessa, Bruce, Andrew, Jake, Cooper and Brian. Mrs. Smith was a friend to many and will be missed by her son and daughter and their families. A funeral service will be held Sunday, December 23, 2001, 1 pm, at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
