LAKELAND -- Mrs. Lucy J. Smith of Lakeland died of failure to thrive Friday (Oct. 18, 2002) at Tandem Health Care Center. She was 83.Born in Valdosta, Ga., on Feb. 20, 1919, she came to Lakeland 80 years ago. She was a domestic worker. She was an active member of Harmony Baptist Church, where she formerly sang in the choir.Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, James Joyner, William Sanders, James Hadley, all of Lakeland; sister, Evelyn Jennings, Lakeland; brother, Bonnie Smith, Lakeland; 25 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles A. Lewis Funeral Home Chapel, 609 W. Memorial Blvd. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Harmony Baptist Church, 1645 N. Webster Ave.
