Lucy Varnum Owens, 83, of 1885 Poplar Springs Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001. A native of Elberton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Asa Hill and Hallie Hall Varnum. She was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Company and Dunean Mill, and attended Church of God of Prophecy, Ware Shoals. Survivors: Husband, Carl W. Owens; and a sister, Ada V. Wells, of Ware Shoals. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home. Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Church of God of Prophecy.
